Burial or cremation: the local habit
In England, about 83.0%[1] of people are cremated, one of the higher rates anywhere. That familiarity shows in the questions small-pet owners ask: less about whether, more about whether they'll really get ashes back from something so tiny. They will, from a genuine private cremation. A rabbit returns a few tablespoons of bone ash, enough for a keepsake urn or to share a pinch between two children.

Private land with permission is fine almost everywhere. Parks, beaches and nature reserves in England may have their own rules, so check before you go. Can a provider from a neighbouring town collect from Manchester?

What should I carry my small pet's body in?
A shoebox, small carrier or sturdy cardboard box works well. Line it with a towel and some of your pet's bedding or hay, and close the lid. In warm weather, put your pet in a sealed bag first. Label the box with your name and your pet's name. A plastic trash bag on its own upsets most people, and a lined box is gentler for everyone.

Should my other rabbit see the body?
Many keepers find it helps. Letting the survivor sniff, groom or lie beside the body for a while often seems to reduce searching and restlessness afterwards. Give them 30 minutes to an hour somewhere quiet. Then watch closely: a grieving rabbit that stops eating or passing droppings can develop gut stasis within a day, which needs a vet quickly.
